New Nissan LEAF to be Unveiled September 6

In a tweet posted last week, Nissan stated that its next-generation LEAF will be officially unveiled on September 6. The world’s top-selling electric car will then make an appearance in Frankfurt later that month at the International Motor Show Germany.

The Japanese automaker has already provided two early glimpses of the LEAF: one teaser revealed the LED headlamps, and another focused on the ProPILOT system, which allows for autonomous single-lane highway driving. It is also expected that other recent new design elements from Nissan will be incorporated, such as the V-Motion grille and the “floating” roof.

The current Nissan LEAF offers a maximum range of 172 km, but Nissan promises the new model will allow drivers to cover much greater distances between charges, as is possible with the Chevrolet Bolt EV and the upcoming Tesla Model S.
